There are a few little bits and pieces that are useful to know before and during your stay. A welcome pack will be waiting for you on arrival with a lot of this information and more.
Getting Here
By Air: From Kirkwall Airport take the A960 into Kirkwall then the A965 to Stromness. After leaving the small town of Finstown take a right turn signposted to Dounby and Birsay (A986). Continue through Dounby and after 3 miles you will pass Boardhouse Loch on the right, then past Barony Mill on the left. At the crossroads turn left onto the A966 and Palace is just down the road on the left. You can't miss the ruins!
By Ferry: From St Margaret's Hope go through the village and turn left onto the A961 to Kirkwall then follow the above directions.
By Ferry: From the Stromness ferry terminal turn right onto the A965 and cross over the roundabout, past the swimming pool on your left. Turn left onto the A967 and continue on this for approximately 9 miles. At the T junction turn left onto the A986. You will go past Boardhouse Loch very shortly at which point follow the above directions.
